The Hill Beachey Project launched August 3, 2013
Hello!
This is an invitation to you. I'd like you to help solve a mystery -- lots of mysteries, actually. My name is Ron Roizen. I'm a history buff. I live in Wallace, Idaho with my wife, Maggie. For some time now, I've been interested in the story of the Magruder murders and Hill Beachey's subsequent heroics in bringing the perpetrators to justice. As it happens, I'm particularly interested in the Beachy side of the story. The
more I've read about the story, however, the more I've encountered
marked inconsistencies and notable blank segments.
Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to do the traveling and the deep archival research necessary to nail down this history as securely as it might be. Hill Beachey Therefore, I'd like to launch a collaborative effort, making use of the contributions of other history buffs elsewhere in the West. I'm particularly hoping to enlist the help of folks who might live near and have access to archival sources in Lewiston, Boise, Portland, San Francisco, and Sacramento. My plan is to describe a series of historical research tasks relating to the Magruder/Beachey story, one at a time. A bit of context for each task will be provided. In turn, I'll publish whatever new findings this collaborative effort my unearth at this page. That's the plan -- so let's just dive in! to
